Course Overview

T-Level summary:
- Two-year course
- Equivalent to 3 A-Levels
- Worth up to 168 UCAS points (Distinction*)
- Created alongside employers
- Includes an extended industry placement within the industry (315 hours minimum)
- Supports progression into university and a professional career within land-based industries

This specialism covers the textiles, leather and sewn products, disciplines and associated techniques required, i.e. stitch, knit, weave and print. Students may make products for a range of contexts and settings. They will be required to work with more than one material and experiment with different processes, tools and techniques.

Students will also develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:
- The creative economy
- The individual in the creative industries
- Cultural context and vocabulary
- Audience and consumer needs
- Legal and regulatory requirements
- Professional standards and conduct in the workplace
- Equality, diversity and inclusion requirements
- Research skills
- Project methodology and administration
- Continued professional development

You will also have 45-60 days in an external industry placement with an employer, which will ensure that you develop and deepen your technical knowledge, skills, and behaviours appropriate to the profession.

Your tutors will work closely with employers and you to support your development of knowledge and skills to progress into the craft and design profession.

Entry Requirements

This qualification is designed for students aged 16-18.

You will need 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including Maths and English), or a Level 2 diploma or NVQ in a related field with merit or distinction.

After Your Course

The T-Level is equivalent to three A-Levels, which enables progression to a range of craft & design undergraduate degrees, apprenticeships, or direct employment.

This course is free but only available to students aged between 16 and 18 on 31st August of the relevant academic year.
